    Tracking referrals with Google

We offer integration with Google Analytics through your ThunderTix account to help track where purchases are coming from. Please see our guide on how to integrate Analytics to track that data:

    Referral tracking with outside software

We also offer another way to connect with a third-party affiliate tracking service to create affiliate URLs and track commissions. Some of our clients have found success using Post Affiliate Pro.

With Post Affiliate Pro, you can create as many sales agents -- or affiliates -- as you have selling on your behalf. With your ThunderTix event URL (https://somewebsite.thundertix.com), they will append a custom affiliate ID to the end of the URL per sales agent. You can then provide that custom URL to your affiliates to either use for their own sales or to embed on their own website. They have two sets of "tracking code" that you can add within a Google Tag Manager account.

    Conversion tracking

First, and most important is a conversion tracking code. If the third party software you use has a conversion tracking code, you can enter it in your Google Tag Manager account as a custom tag. Paste the conversion tracking code into a CUSTOM HTML tag with a "Page View" trigger.

That way, the code will be triggered when someone buys a ticket and sees the "Thank you" page after they successfully purchase tickets. If your customers see the thank you page, the tracking code is triggered to signify an actual sale was made. The affiliate software will count a "conversion", or sale, for the affiliate whose link started that transaction.

    Click tracking

The second type of code that an affiliate software offers is click tracking code. If the third party software offers click tracking code, it will track all traffic from each affiliate URL that you create and provide to your sales agents. So, an agent may have 150 clicks on their link in a given month, but only 25 actual sales. This can happen if a ticket buyer clicks on the link to look at the event information and pricing, but decides not to buy. You can enter click tracking code in the same area of your Google Tag Manager account. However, this time you'll enter the code for "All Pages" rather than for a single page.

That allows you to monitor the traffic from each affiliate for ALL pages of your ThunderTix event pages so that all traffic from those affiliate links are tracked. Depending on the third party software you use, you may be able to set up commission schedules per affiliate. This will automatically calculate the commission due per agent based on the sales that are attributed to their affiliate ID. We are not recommending Post Affiliate Pro as the software to use, but this is one example of the kind of software that can achieve commissions tracking.
