Video Tutorial: How to Set Up a Password-Protected Pre-Sale in ThunderTix - Tue - Jul 21, 2026 - 12:38am
-
A password-protected pre-sale lets selected members, donors, or other customers purchase tickets before they become available to the general public. This option works with general admission, reserved seating, stadium seating, and other event configurations. To set up a pre-sale for a new event:
- Go to Events → Event Manager and select Create Event.
- Enter your event details, dates, ticket types, description, and image.
- Open Advanced Date Display Options.
- Set the Activation Date to the date and time tickets should become available to the public.
- Add a pre-sale announcement and choose when it should begin displaying.
- Enter the password customers will use to access the pre-sale.
- Choose whether the event should be Public or Semi-Private.
- Finish creating the event.
A Public event will appear on your public event page, but customers must enter the password before purchasing tickets. A Semi-Private event will not appear publicly, so you will need to share its direct link and password with the customers invited to the pre-sale.To update an existing pre-sale, open the event and go to Public Display → Customize the Buy Button. From there, you can edit the announcement, display date, password, and pre-sale button text. Remember that anyone who received the previous password will need the updated one if you change it.When the pre-sale ends, make sure the event is set to Public for general ticket sales. You can also create a ThunderTix task to remind yourself to update the event when tickets officially go on sale.
