What is the difference between a void and a refund? - Sun - Oct 23, 2011 - 10:10pm

Void actions are only applicable to Authorize.net gateway only and completely cancels all tickets and refunds the entire payment when performed within the first 24 hours. A void prevents the transaction from settling. It will simply disappear off of the customer's bank statement in a couple of days. Once 24 hours has passed, the Void button is disabled as Authorize.net.
A refund is available on settled transactions only (usually after 1 business day). Other payment gateways (like Stripe) may offer the ability to refund an order the same day it was processed. Authorize.net only allows a partial or full refund for up to 120 days after the transaction was processed. If you use Authorize.net and you need to issue a refund on an order older than 120 days, you can consider refunding the order to a gift card for future shows or send a refund by check.
