How do I use the "cat" columns in my customer import? - Tue - Aug 5, 2025 - 6:01pm

  • When importing patrons into ThunderTix, you have the option to include classifications. A list of instructions are included on the Import Customers page, and the following is specific to point #15, the category columns.

#15: Columns labeled 'cat_1', 'cat_2', etc. are for customer classifications. Enter one classification name per column (i.e. Subscriber, Volunteer, Member, Donor).

The "cat" columns are used for classifications and can be a mix, so each "cat" column does not need to be designated for a specific classification across the board. Here is an example of how it might look:
Screenshot of sample use of "cat" columns in patron import.

As you can see in the screenshot above, there are several different classifications, but they don't all have to be in the same "cat" column for each patron line, and rather, are a bit of a hodgepodge. However, the "cat" column headings do need to remain as is, as circled above. So, rather than renaming the column headings, just leave those as is, and enter the classifications as desired.
