How do I restrict my capacity on a reserved seating event? - Tue - Mar 16, 2021 - 7:41pm

There is no way to set a maximum capacity on a reserved seating event. However, you may restrict capacity by using our automatic social distancing which blocks seats between different households as purchases are made.

Enabling social distancing for reserved seating events

Since ThunderTix is unable to set hard limits on reserved seating other than using seat blocking, we suggest you use event inventory alerts. Let’s use an illustrated example. Let’s say your seating chart has 500 seats at maximum capacity, but local laws limit capacity to 20% or 100 seats. To start, block every other row using the social distance feature which will automatically limit capacity to 250. Then enable automated social distancing to remove 3 seats on each side of purchased seats. This further reduces capacity automatically.

Next, set up an automated inventory alert that notifies you when your event capacity dips below a certain threshold. Follow this example:

    1. Go to the Events Manager > Manage > Public Display
    2. From the left tabs, click "Additional Display Options".
    3. For the “Remaining Ticket Display”, enter the capacity at which you wish to be notified. In this example, you might choose 50 seats. Set the value high to ensure your capacity isn't exceeded with careful monitoring as inventory diminishes.
    4. Then, go to Email Notifications from your Account settings.
    5. From the Alerts section, choose "When an event's inventory reaches its inventory", enter the email address of each person you want to receive the alert

When the inventory alert is triggered, you may review your sold seats and adjust with more blocking as needed. You can modify your Remaining Ticket Display as often as needed to keep an eye on your attendance counts.
