How can I display an event without the buy button? - Wed - Jul 5, 2017 - 1:17pm

  • If you have a free event (or an event you're selling internally) for which you do not wish to actually sell and deliver emailed tickets, you can still display the event without having a "Buy" button. This option works for both the standard event listing as well as the calendar. Take the following steps to have your events listed in your usual event listing.

Navigate to: Event Manager > Events

    1. Click Create Event
    2. Enter your event details under the Event Basics tab, such as name, date, and a $0 ticket type.
    3. In the "Advanced Date Display Options" tab, set the Activation date to 12:00 am on the actual event date. (For recurring events, use the first event date.)
    4. Set the Expiration Date to 11:59 pm on the actual event date. (For recurring events, set the Expiration to be the final event date.)
    5. Enter a Pre-sale Announcement which will serve as the event description.
    6. Set the Pre-sale Announcement date to the current date and time.
    7. Click Finish.
    8. After the event has been created, click the "Public Display" tab. Change the activation date to 11:58 pm on the date of the free event. If this is a recurring free event, enter the date as the day of the last event in the series at 11:58 pm.

To remove the "Buy" button from an already created event, navigate to: Event Manager > Events

    1. Click Select then Manage for the given event
    2. Select Public Display >> Event Information
    3. Set the Activation date to 11:59 pm on the actual event date. (For recurring events, use the first event date.)
    4. Set the Expiration Date to 11:59 p.m. on the actual event date. (For recurring events, set the Expiration to be the final event date.)
    5. Select the Customizing the 'Buy' button tab
    6. Enter a Pre-sale Announcement which will serve as the event description.
    7. Set the Pre-sale Announcement date to the current date and time.

The pre-sale announcement date must be set to a date prior to the event's activation date. Once the events activation date approaches, the pre-sale announcement will no longer appear, and customers will have access to the buy button.

Doing the above will create an event that displays the event name, presale announcement (as the description) and event image along with the event date(s) but it will NOT display the button to purchase tickets. Your event will appear for "purchase" for one minute from 11:58pm to 11:59pm on the final day of the event, but will disappear at midnight.
