How can I allow or disallow certain credit cards or debit cards as payment options? - Wed - Jan 15, 2025 - 12:03pm

Your payment gateway determines which types of credit cards are used. Should you wish to remove specific credit card companies such as American Express and allow only Visa and Mastercard, your payment gateway may have these options. For example, Authorize.net allows you to decide which credit cards you wish to accept or which credit card payment options you wish to prevent such as AmEx (which often takes a larger percentage of your revenue).
The same holds true for pre-paid credit cards. Check with your payment gateway to see if you can allow pre paid credit cards for your orders.
If you allow pre-paid cards and the pre-paid card is being declined, one reason could be that you have settings that decline the transaction if the billing address doesn't match. Since these types of cards often do not have addressees attached to them, the transaction will be declined. You may be able to change your settings to say if there is no address, accept the transaction anyway.
