Update: Captcha Added to Fundraising Campaigns - Wed - Sep 3, 2025 - 8:46pm
-
Over the last 24 hours, some ThunderTix clients with stand-alone fundraising campaigns experienced a surge of fraudulent $1 donation attempts. These were automated bots testing stolen credit card numbers to see which are valid—a common tactic because small charges are less likely to be flagged immediately. To protect our clients, we’ve added captcha security to all fundraising and donation campaigns by default. This change will block automated attempts while ensuring legitimate donors can still complete their gifts smoothly. We know seeing dozens of declined charges can be concerning, but rest assured:
- The declined attempts do not mean your system has been breached.
- No donor data has been compromised.
- Captcha is now active across all accounts to prevent further abuse.
Unfortunately, bad actors are always looking for new ways to exploit online transactions. At ThunderTix, we move quickly to safeguard our clients, and we’re confident this update will stop this round of fraudulent activity.Thank you to those who reported the issue—your feedback helps us protect the entire ThunderTix community.— The ThunderTix Team - The declined attempts do not mean your system has been breached.
