Do you support Apple Pay and Google Pay? - Wed - Mar 11, 2026 - 5:04pm

  • ThunderTix supports accelerated checkout options including Apple Pay and Google Pay for online ticket purchases.

When supported, these options appear directly on the checkout page for the customer. Patrons do not need to manually enter their card details if they already have a supported payment method set up on their device or browser.

    How it works

Apple Pay and Google Pay are designed to make checkout faster and easier for online buyers. If a patron’s device, browser, and digital wallet are compatible, the available option will automatically appear during checkout.

There is nothing special the patron needs to select in advance, and there is nothing additional your box office staff needs to manage during the sale.

    What patrons will see

The appearance may vary slightly depending on your payment processor.

    • Stripe users may see Apple Pay and Google Pay buttons displayed prominently at the top of the payment section.

    • Square users may see available wallet options integrated into the payment section in a slightly different layout.
Below are some examples of how Apple Pay or G Pay (Google Pay) might appear during the checkout for your customers.

In both cases, the payment options simply appear when they are supported for that customer’s checkout session.

Why a patron may not see Apple Pay or Google Pay

Availability depends on several factors, including:

    • the payment processor on your account (Square and Stripe only)

    • the patron’s browser and device (Safari or Chrome are the most common)

    • whether the patron already has Apple Pay or Google Pay enabled

    • whether that wallet is supported in that specific checkout environment
Because of this, not every patron will see the same payment options every time.  If you want to enable Apple Pay and Google Pay within your payment gateway, see below:

    For Square users:

    1.  Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Online → Websites → Website settings → Checkout
    2. In the Square section, turn on Accept Apple Pay and Accept Google Pay

If the buttons do not appear right away, republish the site and refresh the live page. Apple Pay will only display for buyers using Safari.

    For Stripe users:

    1.  Sign in to your Stripe Dashboard and go to Settings → Payment methods
    2. Enable the wallet options you want to offer. Stripe notes that Apple Pay is generally enabled by default, while Google Pay is disabled by default.

Do patrons still have the option to pay by credit card?

Yes. Traditional card entry remains available alongside accelerated checkout options.
