ThunderTix now supports the Stripe Terminal for chip and "tap" payments. If you use Stripe as your payment gateway, you now have an opportunity to use the BBPOS WisePOS E, a pre-certified card reader provided directly from Stripe (provided that your business is based in the United States). The Stripe Terminal provides end-to-end encryption, supports chip cards, and contactless payments, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. One benefit of EMV card readers is the reduction in fraud. As a "card-present" transaction, you have more protection against chargebacks and credit card fraud.

In addition, cards processed using the Terminal for in-person transactions are handled at a rate of 2.7% and only $0.05 per transaction compared with the standard online rate of 2.9% and $0.30 per transaction. Unfortunately, organizations that already earned the non-profit rate of 2.2% and $0.30 will also still have the same 2.7% and $0.05 per transaction for cards processed using the Stripe Terminal.

    Ordering a Stripe Terminal

In order to get started using the Stripe Terminal, first, you'll need to login to your Stripe Dashboard and go to Stripe's Terminal page to "Shop" for the hardware. Purchase the "BBPOS WisePOS E" for your box office. Purchased directly from Stripe, the BBPOS WisePOS E costs $299 plus shipping. Once the BBPOS WisePOS E has arrived, follow the instructions from Stripe for the general setup process and how to connect it to the Internet.
