What is the difference between Packages and Flex Passes? - Wed - Nov 10, 2010 - 6:58pm

Packages allow venue admins to bundle multiple events together at an optionally discounted rate for sale in a single transaction.

For example, a theatre might be showing The Drowsy Chaperone, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and The Laramie Project.  You can bundle these into a single package for specified nights, or if you offer a run of performances, you might allow patrons to select their dates for attendance.  Once patrons select the package, ThunderTix will guide them through the selection process until all event dates are chosen. The patrons will receive all tickets to all events included in the package at the time that payment is approved. If the events in the package use a seating chart, the patron will choose their preferred seats from the chart and they'll be placed in the same seats for all events included in the package.

On the other hand, Flex Passes provide patrons with more flexibility in choosing performance dates as the name implies. Flex passes provide the ability to buy a season package at the beginning of the season while choosing the performance dates as the season unfolds. The flex pass purchase will issue "voucher codes" that are redeemable on each of the events included in the flex pass. Patrons redeem their voucher codes as event dates approach and they have a better idea of what their schedule looks like.

You may create Standard Flex Passes which are redeemable just once per included event, or you may offer a Punch Card Flex Pass where patrons may use all vouchers for a single event or spread them out in any combination of events as they see fit. One patron might use their 6 voucher codes to bring a guest to each of the three aforementioned events, or they may wish to bring a party of six to see The Laramie Project.

Once the voucher codes have been used the set number of times, it will no longer be valid for additional use.

For more information on how to apply flex passes, see this discussion:  Applying Flex Pass vouchers on a transaction.
