Password Security GuidelinesTo help protect your account and personal information, follow these guidelines for creating and managing your passwords:
1. Selecting Strong Authentication Factors- Create a strong password/passphrase:
- Use a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters (e.g., @, #, $, &).
- Make it at least 12 characters long.
- Avoid common words, sequential numbers, or easily guessable information (e.g., your name, birthdate, or "123456").
- Consider using a passphrase, which is a combination of random words or phrases (e.g., "Blue$Chair!82Happy").
- Use unique passwords:
- Create a different password for every account to reduce the risk of compromise.
2. Protecting Your Authentication Factors- Keep your passwords confidential:
- Never share your passwords with anyone, including friends, family, or coworkers.
- Each coworker that accesses ThunderTix should have their own private login that is connected to their own email address.
- Avoid writing passwords down in easily accessible locations.
- Use a password manager:
- Securely store your passwords in a reputable password manager to manage them safely and conveniently.
- Be cautious of phishing attempts:
- Never enter your password on suspicious websites or respond to emails or messages requesting your login credentials.
- Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA):
- Wherever possible, use MFA for an additional layer of security.
3. Avoid Reusing Passwords- Do not reuse passwords:
- Avoid reusing passwords from other accounts or previously used passwords.
- If prompted to change your password, create a new, unique password rather than making slight modifications (e.g., "Password1" to "Password2").
4. Responding to Potential Compromise- Change your password immediately if you suspect it has been compromised.
- Indicators of compromise include receiving account alerts, unexpected login activity, or being unable to access your account.
- Report security incidents:
- If you believe your account or password has been compromised, report the issue immediately by contacting our support team through a support request.
